Thanks for the link.
That seems to primarily be intended for temp files, or data files without an associated aup file.
The aup file for the project is there from the last time I saved, but when I open it... no tracks show up, even though it looks like the data's all there.

Re: combining 2 mono tracks into stereo
You could also mix the two tracks down to mono, duplicate it, make one "right" the other "left" and then combine to stereo track.
Question... what's the difference between mix & render, and quick mix? when should one be used -vs- the other. (I always use quick mix under the project menu)

lost/blank project
I had a saved project, and I was editing out pops caused by a bad signal cable. The pop/click tool didn't work too well, so I was editing sample points by hand zoomed it very far. I had done this for an hour... resaved the project... then another hour or so... and then Audacity crashed. I expected t...

Anyway to shock Audacity into responding.
I recorded a massive 8 track jam session last night. One huge Audacity project. This morning, I started to fool around with it, realized I hadn't saved it yet, and did a Save As to my 2nd local hard-drive (Audacity's temp directory is on 1st local hard-drive) I expected it to take some time, as ther...

Re: To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
Oh... I just reread the thread, and noticed something. Are you saying that once you close a project and reopen it, there are no "undos" available? Or stating it in another way, you can't undo past the point where you last opened the project? ugh!! If it's all an "edit decision list" it certainly wou...

Re: To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
Yes Koz... you're right. I'm just saving the same file. If I were doing something serious, I would make multiple files as "restore points". However, recording 8 tracks of 3 hour practices twice a week would chew up some considerable disk space. Even my terabyte raid server would soon get overwhelmed...

Re: To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
I did. The project was saved immediately after recording... then saved a little later after the Hi/Lo pass filtering and duplication of vocal tracks.

To Undo... or not Undo... that is the question.
ok... I thought I had a pretty good handle on basic Audacity Functioning, as far as not modifying original raw audio files, using an edit list, which enables just about unlimited undos... but then I ran into something that stumped me. I record my bands (2 different bands now -- which is why I'm not ...

Re: I need a recording device?
I occasionally get this message... and a reboot solves the problem. Assuming you've tried that... Do you mean that in the Audio I/O tab of preferences, when you look at options under Recording Device there's nothing available? If so... look at your System Properties (right-click on my computer, or c...

Re: Line in lost with HD Audio
If I'm understanding you correctly, your friend used to record real-time from streaming internet sources using Audacity, and since upgrading his motherboard, he no longer can do so. In Audacity, under the "Edit" menu, choose "Preferences" (or CTL-P) Under the "Audio I?O" tab (the left most tab... yo...
