Thanks for the input. I downloaded and applied the Security Update. The problem didn't get away, however. I tried out retyping the filename suggested by Storer. It was successful. This suggests that import of filenames does not work fine under Mac OS X, perhaps due to some kind of character encoding...

Thanks for your suggestion, but no, it didn't solve the problem.

Seems like the error is always "Error: reference to invalide number at line 6 (or 8)". I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.x and it's pretty sure that this is the reason that I'm having this trouble and you don't.

Yeah, I figured out what went wrong. If the filename contains "-", it causes the error - a little bit surprising specification. Anyway, the problem was fixed and now I feel happy with Audacity
