OK! I change it to 16 bit. Tried again. NO luck. Same message-"Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."

Whooper: I am trying to record from my Tascam mix down recorder into my computer. The only devices it shows, is Sigma tel Audio, modem #0 line in, and mapper.

I just downloaded Audacity. Hooked up my Tascam 130 tape recorder to my computer via the line in. Clicked on edit, selected preferences, selected the device, it shows "modem #0 line record."
