I figured it out. I had to change the settings on the computer System Preferences from Internal Microphone to Line-in.

Thanks. I did that but it seems to be recording what im watching on television, not the tape deck. I have the tape deck plugged into the 'input' jack, not the headphone one. Is that wrong?

I want to transfer music from some cassettes to my iMac. I have the walkman hooked up to the input line on the computer but can't figure out how to get this to work. When I play the walkman I don't hear anything. Any step- by-step assistance would be very appreciated. Sorry if this has been covered ...
