The settings are: System Mixer: Line In; Wav View/Toolbars/Device: checked PB & Record Devices (top of screen): Realtek AC 97 Audio Edit/Preferences/Devices/Interface: Windows Direct Sound; P...

Re: Trial & error OK?
In view of all of the above, could someone just tell me the specifics of how to achieve my objective ?....... which is this: I have a need to deliver MP3s to potential clients. The clients will want short (up to 1MB) sound clips (voice/music/effects), strung together differently for each MP3. The so...

And my eventual goal is to be able to take edited .au segments from storage and mix them up in Audacity according what is wanted, then deliver them in MP3 format when necessary. Getting sound into the computer is easy...

Trial & error OK?
Is there a way to do some recordings, just to learn (without messing up Audacity 1.3.11) before embarking on my real project? Hodge

Re: Deleting files; Record level meters
OK: I now know that: 1. All files must be exported as 32-bit WAV recordings 2. When opening Audacity I should always open via Project Name first 3. WAVs in Audacity cannot be moved, deleted, or renamed 4. A recording should have a 2nd copy made before editing (Pref./File Formats) ///////////////////...

Re: Deleting files; Record level meters
In all the material I've read thus far there was no mention of the two corrections you offered so I'm grateful for your response (and so promptly !). Where I'm a "newbie" at this I'd be pleased to get your further input on what I'm trying to do. I'd like a folder into which all my sound recordings c...

Deleting files; Record level meters
When I delete a sound file (FILE/RECENT FILES), that file shows up again the next time I turn on Audacity.
Also, why are the record level meters suddenly missing? (XP, 1.2.6)
