Great answer, thanks!
To be frank, being new to Audacity, I assumed that chain-like features were at the core of the basic version. I was surprised to see that it was just an under-development part of the beta version. I hope that chains will get more attention in the near future.

Re: File rename command in a chain.
Thanks for your contribution. I know about bulk rename utilities, but it is much more powerful if it is possible to rename files inside a chain in Audacity. My needs are very simple: .oga for ogg audio instead of the default .ogg given by Audacity. Even better would be to parameter the output extens...

Re: Ogg quality
Thanks, I could figure it out with your screen shot. It is kind of awkward to have an option hidden inside a Windows XP file explorer dialogue. Maybe this is because this is still a beta version of Audacity. However, in the future version, I suggest that the Audacity developers make this setting glo...

Re: File rename command in a chain.
Do you mean that I can take a Windows command line, any Windows command line, and add it as a step to a chain? Do you have an example of that where it is explained? Otherwise, is there a tutorial about programming new commands for Audacity. I am not a programmer, but something as simple as file rena...

File rename command in a chain.
I made a Chain that produces an Ogg file with extension .ogg. I would like .oga extension instead of .ogg, so I am looking for a step called "File Rename" in the list of commands that would rename *.ogg to *.oga. But I cannot find such a command. What is the way to automate file renames in a chain?

Re: Ogg quality
Which Export dialogue do you mean? Could you provide a screenshot, please?
For example, when I add an ExportOgg command in a chain, its "Edit parameters" button is grayed out. Where can I set Export parameters?

Ogg quality
Please help me with this:
Where has the option to choose the output Ogg quality gone? In the 1.2.6. release, it is under preferences > File Format > OGG Export Setup. But in the beta, this menu has vanished!
