Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
UPDATE: It's working very well. Can't thank you enough. Now I want to add an additional track or two. I'm going to try going directly in through "Mike" but am thinking I'll need a better quality interface perhaps. I'll do a thread search for that. I'm playing around with "effects" a bit too though I...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
Wow....that's cool. I'm trying it this weekend (Sunday & Monday for me). I was sort of on the second approach but didn't understand the time shift (was thinking align tracks for some reason). I've only had this program for a week but I'm making headway. Just the digital remix without stripping each ...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
these are just independent tracks for mixing ?? i think that if you now after importing from tape have 4 stereo tracks (8 total) you will have more problems then that approach is worth unless you treat them as 4 separate tracks so might as well make them mono now (but see caveat about stereo panning...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
I have another question. First off I have successfully remixed my analog recordings to digital and saved to CD...YEA! Now I want to go back to the Master and record each discrete track so I can play around with compression, reverb etc separately then remix. My question is how do I synchronize the tra...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
You're right. WM is acting goofy. I did figure out that I can save the WAV file to Desktop and Send To WMP. Sometimes it shows up without the time but if I fiddle with it it eventually works and I'm making progress. I'm splitting the Stereo and the remix is working bout. Adding a bit more reverb on ...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
Yep. Blue is Line in (Green & Pink are the other two) and I have another Headphone jack in the front. When I tested unpluging 1 RCA at a time that track dropped off so that's correct. I also changed setting to show file type. Very weird though because I reexported the song that was showing "no elaps...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
You're a patient man and I appreciate it. In this case I'm trying to burn a dozen original songs to a Music CD so I can listen in the car or anywhere else. In transposing from analog to digital I'm taking the opportunity to remix from the masters. That's why I wondered why both "tracks" I was seeing...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
Bill & Koz....Thanks! My setup is at home and I'm at work so have to go over these points when I get home. I did download the newer version and started over. There's some very weird things happening when I export a Mixed song to WAV file. (I'm trying to learn the whole process). Sometimes the WAV fi...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
I'm using Line In on a Desktop (windows Vista). So I've got Left & Right Line Out (RCA plugs)from the tape deck to a Y adaptor (RCA to Stereo Pin Plug)that goes into Line In on Computer. Shouldn't that give me two different tracks instead of two identical ones? Am I just stupid (don't answer that!)?...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
Thanks for all the responses. What I'm doing now is mixing the 4 discrete tracks as I record it to Audacity. Sounds like it will be a lot of trouble to bring them in separately. I have a Realtek card and I'm using a RCA Y to Stereo Pin Plug into the Computer. I chose the Stereo setting on Audacity b...
