Thank you for being so helpful. I think that I have it licked. Have to try a few more recordings. Haven't yet figured out what is the lighter blue and the darker blue mean on the Audio Track waveform.

Using Audacity 1.2.6 and WinXP SP2. I am recording from a record player (vinyl 33rpm) but I get much clipping. I can not reduce the volume at the turntable.
What adjustment and where do I need to make to reduce the incoming volume?
