Re: Drawing on Beta
I tried the decibel view but the drawing tool only works in the linear view. I think I will record in stable, do the click removal in stable and then import the file into Beta.

Re: Explanation of noise removal requested
Thanks for pointing that out but the "explanation" just basically says that you set it to the middle and play with it. There must be some explanation as to what these levels do and how you can logically approach the settings. Also I think there is a mistake when it says to place the sliders at the h...

Re: Drawing on Beta
Which version of the program are you using, and which Operating System? I've never seen this grid and I can't find an option to turn it on anywhere. In the stable version there are no lines on the waveform. In Beta there is a black horizontal line along the zero decibel level. When you magnify the ...

Explanation of noise removal requested
I am looking for some help in understanding the three parameters that are used in the beta noise removal. Just randomly moving the slide controls, it is clear that this is a significant improvement but how do you logically set these parameters?

Drawing on Beta
I am new to Beta having used the stable program for the last four or so months. I prefer to draw out the clicks and other unwanted sounds on my recordings, mostly of jazz albums. My problem is that in Beta as you magnify the sound waves, the grid pattern shows up and obscures a great deal of the sou...

Re: Corrupt I/O file (was Sudden Loss of Sound)
I have removed the old Audacity program using the Microsoft Installation program and have installed the beta-Audacity and the sound has been restored. The beta program found two file corruptions in the old program files which it eliminated.

Corrupt I/O file (was Sudden Loss of Sound)
I have been posting on the sudden loss of playback sound in Audacity which seemed to be caused by clicking on the speaker icon in the mixer toolbar while working on removing clicks from a recording of a LP. Repeated attempts to restore sound have failed. The sound on the rest of my computer is worki...

Re: Sudden loss of playback sound
Sorry you "Lost all playback sound" but "The media players all work as well as all the sound effects"? You are contradicting yourself and make no sense. Do you mean that you don't get sound from audacity but do from other programs? If that is the case, then you need to check that the playback level...

Re: Sudden loss of playback sound
The volume on the computer system is fine. The media players all work as well as all the sound effects. I tried bypassing the speakers using headphones but that did not work even swithing to the Microsoft Sound Map and headphones did not work. I am truly stumped why I can't get any playback sound. M...

Sudden loss of playback sound
I have been using Audacity for several months without difficulty on my Dell computer running Windows Vista. Recently I clicked on the speaker icon in the mixer toolbar by accident, setting it to zero. I lost all playback sound but since then I can't get any playback sound out of the Audacity program...
