Thanks snap to is off. I think the problem has solved itself. It seems that by exporting the song as a Wav file into windows media player instead of an mp3 transfers only the song and not the extra silence!

I record onto an 8 track and export onto Audacity. My problem is that at the end of the song there is around a minute of silent time which I cannot get rid of and this is annoying because it transfers with the song to disc.
