Just to clarify, I have used 1.2.6 for about 2 years and I always record in mono, as I only do voice over narration. The level in 1.2.6 has never been an issue. I set up 1.2.6 to ask for one channel. I did the same with 1.3.11 and then the low level issue came up.

When I use a VST effect in 1.3, it is always extremely slow to render. For example, I used a classic compressor on a :36 mono piece of audio. My record input is set to my USB Tascam device.

In Audacity 1.2.6 I had no problems with my USB device and my record level, and did not do anything with windows settings. As I mentioned, I am able to record perfect levels with audition, wavepad, and the Audacity 1.2.6.
