Re: Removing Background Music From Songs
not easy if it could be done at all they started with multiple tracks and mixed it that way now if you could find a good karaoke program that removes the voice and makes a second file with music only then you could take the music only file and subtract it from the original to leave only the voice wo...

Re: Saving project while recording?
Hi, I hope this isn't a stupid question. I've been using Audacity on and off for a couple of years, but now I intend to use it to record fairly long interviews or seminars for later podcast use. I'm a little stumped by the "Save" function in Audacity. It seems that you cannot save or re-save your p...

Re: SSM2019 monolithic pre-amp chip
It's an analogue pre-amp chip. It doesn't use "bits". woweeee they still make analog ??????????? let me rephrase the question after you use this whizbang preamp chip do you really gain any bits over any other typical chip after the next step where stuff gets digitised ? the way i understand the a/d...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
The worst curse of phantom power is not what happens when it's running, although that can be fun. When you turn it off, it dumps a sudden 48 volt charge into the amplifier system. This would be the delicate, noise tuned, super low distortion amplifier system. I can't find it immediately, but someon...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
i ended up with two external interfaces that way :| but the extra software was a big plus and i *could* use one on the other pc i guess ... Meanwhile I'll try to find or build a simple 48V power supply for the phantom power and check how the mic will sound directly connected to my soundcard's line/...

Re: Reverse RIAA curve
Bill, there is a posting in the Wiki Feature Requests page that relates to this, which says: "Equalization: Automatic 78 RPM EQ from RIAA-recorded 78's: Flattens the curve to negate the RIAA EQ then applies the required 78 RPM EQ in one button press. Add more 78 RPM presets to facilitate this. (7 v...

Re: Limit on size/length of recording?
I was going to use audacity to record an all day meeting we are having in the office... Is there a "cap" on the length of a recording? yes and no easier to just hit stop and start every 20-30 minutes or so when there is a break in the speech , between speakers, or just tell them to shut up for a mo...

Re: high pitched background noise
But there is something fundamentally wrong with your recording the 0.07second pulses every half second and the effect which follows half a second after you speak suggest to me that an AGC /compressor may be the cause. Microphone properties-Vista.png hmmm..... could there be skype or other software ...
