sounds like you are overloading the low level mike input with a high level line out from the dj thing andor your interfaces. you might try a DI box. like you did for that guy who modulated one track with another one
use two sawtooth waves offset 1/2 cycle and apply one to each of the stereo tracks. the sound would go up and down in each track at opposite times making the sound appear to move back and forth.

i would guess that the problem is win7 and its drivers not audacity. one of the 7 gurus may have a way to do it. or your new sound card may not allow audacity to do it now. do tell us how you set up the pc to do that previously. two microphones? overdub while playing back first take? something else?...

slowly change the gain so it increases will do that.
i dont use that but that is described in the docs/wiki/tips/ and some forum messages here that are doing something similar.

looks like a pc problem you got any other stuff running that could preempt the recording so it misses data capture? turn off all other software and stay offline when recording. turn off all windows automatic "help" stuff like indexing. also be sure to defrag your disk before recording. do ...
