tell us exactly and in great detail how this is all set up. sounds like you are sending stereo to your speakers but mono to audacity. for real stereo you need two inputs. depending on the settings the best you could get would be two identical mono channels from one input. seems like your computer is...

start audacity under file recent you should see the song you did open it else find the auP folder name for the song you recorded. do NOT do anything with the DATA folder or any au files in it. click on the aup folder and the song should open if you deleted the aup folder then you should not expect t...

assuming it is grounded correctly then
electrolytic capacitors in the power supply may be leaky.
have a good repair shop check out the amplifier power supply.

what does the recorded signal look like?
can you use the amplify function to make it louder?
can you compress to make it sound even louder?
classical music has way too much dynamic range.
consider using both compression and amplify.
