I would eliminate the hum before recording, not try to remove it later. You need to decide if its bothersome to you. Generally it is not that hard. Use the ground wire on the TT. its an offset voltage in the wave forms
if you try to patch them there will be a jump if there is offset
use normalise to remove the offset

do you have dc offset?
remove it.

have you tried to put silence in the space where you get the pop?

what xlr connectors?
they have 1/4 rca and 3/8 - ignore any xlrs if they have them
and the problem was high level into a mike input
which is what these things do

i was in 24 bit depth.
linear goes from nearly 1 to zero

tape out is HIGH level
mike in is LOW level
you need a DI box (and cable adapters) to fix the mismatch
else put your tape out into a line in connector
not all laptops may have that connector
