it is not clear that the realtek version of realtek will work on dell
but if it does you should use the latest one
if not go back and get the lastest dell version for realtek
dell does some nonstandard things to control their pc and "protect" idiot users which makes it harder for normal people

7kcps range is usually not what is lost due to old age
it is the 10-20kcps really high freqs
why can telephone hearing be so intelligible
if the BW is cut off at about 4kcps ?
is there another factor here ???

we normally lose high freq hearing as we get older some people sooner than others ibm tubes drove my ears crazy with a whine at 15Kcps or so many other people could not hear that at all they often asked me how i knew a monitor was on and i said i could hear it - almost nobody i knew ever could hear ...

that happens with win on many programs at times billygs boyz prefer to get it out fast instead of right so we have to live with these rough edges possible fix do ctrl alt delete in order to bring up task manager then go to the applications tab and delete the currently "running" audacity then try aga...

yes to all of the above win7 is a real problem - worse on laptops realtek can be a problem - get the latest drivers from dell dell can be a problem - at least a big PITA get the win7 options set first you may not be able to do what you want at all then get latest realtek drivers and set all the real...
