Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection
some sort of average or rms would be a good guide to how much compression is needed / desirable
the amplify tells us already how much gain we can apply
make this the second vote for an rms feature
maybe just add it as info to the amplify/normalis/and compress that exist

Re: Digital "jukebox" to feed the analog stereo?
Here's another option - perhaps a bit pricey, but good reviews, particularly for ease of use, sound quality and manufacturers support. http://www.brennan.co.uk/ it looked good but very pricey but the specs seem to indicate they have some heavy compression applied ten cds take 1G of HD (eg 320G == 3...

"but you have to do that or stop overconstraining the problem" Since I consider the problem "adequately constrained" and not overconstrained, maybe I really do want to do that.<G> .... since you think it is adequately constrained then accept the adequately constrained answer you CANT DO THAT THE WA...

Re: Can't Get Analog Factory to Record
give me another clue
no idea what that factory is
how does that relate to audacity ??
you might do better contacting the vendor/maker
checking out an analog factory forum
or try the many general audio forums that cover everything

Re: Digital "jukebox" to feed the analog stereo?
Guys, you misread me. ... ... I'm looking for something like a 500GB iPod, or a "player" that can use an external drive. A very small and dumb computer, that can just manage the job of imitating a jukebox, in the smallest possible footprint with the least power consumption. ... no we didnt you now ...
