In Win7/Sound options/recording options, I adjusted all the USB and microphone devices to '2 channel- 16-bit - 44100hz" and that did the trick.

I adjusted Win7 mic successfully to record in stereo, but now the input levels for decent recording are very low - very little room to adjust. Input levels are .05 out of 1.0. Any higher and they distort. I'll assume that the issue is internal to Win 7 and/or mic adjustments. any ideas?

Timely question - first time posting so I hope this similar observation gets across: I just got the same USB Phonpplus preamp and using Audacity Beta 1.3.
