Re: Change Speed (What is the correct length of a song?)

I will do what you suggest. It is not a top quality tape machine and I am guessing the mechanics are fried. If that is the case, as you say, it could be going in the bin.

Re: Change Speed (What is the correct length of a song?)

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that the vinyl times would be “correct” however as you point out that may not necessarily be the case. I think the cassette player is the problem as it happened on both the albums in question plus another one I recorded (which is available on iTunes). I am not nec...

Change Speed (What is the correct length of a song?)

Some time ago I recorded a couple of now obsolete albums from cassette using Audacity and converted the songs to individual MP3's. The recordings ended up being a quicker speed than they should be and I intend altering them to correct that using Change Speed. What I am trying to work out is what is ...

Re: Clipping and Limiter Settings

Thanks for your response and the settings provided. It's greatly appreciated.

Keeping in mind I am re encoding from an MP3 to an MP3 with these new settings (not ideal I know) would the Preset Extreme option be sufficient or would it be smarter to go the full 320kbps option?

Clipping and Limiter Settings

Hi, I am an occasional user of Audacity and have recently updated to 2.3.0 as I have some MP3's I would like to increase the volume on. I see there is a lossless edit program mp3DirectCut that will do this however I have decided that Audacity will be the best and easiest option for me (I am only lik...

Re: Best settings for audio cassettes.

Thanks for the link to the USB turntable article, wax cylinder. You may have slightly misunderstood my question (or perhaps I didn’t explain it well). I can actually get a non-clipped recording (at the recommended initial max. level of -6db). It’s just that the Input volume slider has to be kept to ...

Re: Best settings for audio cassettes.

There is just one knob on the cassette player, for turning on, turning off and adjusting the volume.

Adjusting the volume on the cassette player (regardless of how high or low) has no effect on the Input volume.

I have a Digitech USB cassette player (model no. GE-4052)

Re: Best settings for audio cassettes.

I have a very similar question to what soundman10 has asked, so thought it would be appropriate to place it here. In my case, I have a USB cassette player which I am going to use to transfer some music to my PC (and some of it will then be put onto CD). My PC is a Compaq with a 1.6 Ghz Intel Celeron...
