Re: Starlogic turntable, no music

I am sorry bgravato I have never burned a CD from Itunes. I am very new to all of this and I am not as young as I use to be. I am trying to learn as I go. No problem at all. I was just trying to find out if there was any method you knew and were comfortable with. I'm not the typical mac user (I'm a...

Re: Record one track while listening to another

Like Koz the first thing it came to my mind about the crashes was faulty memory, I was going to suggest a memory test too (there some bootable cd iso's you can download that will perform such tasks, most linux bootable cds have that too), but first I was trying to confirm which audacity version blue...

Re: Can't monitor voice levels while recording: Rode Podcast

I just did a quick test on my macbook pro (os-x 10.6). Recording from the built-in mic. Audacity 1.3.12. I can only hear my voice while recording if I activate software playthrough. I also hear the reverb. The reverb is not present on the recording. I tried activating the hardware playthrough but to...

Re: LAME is LAME! What's up with the mandatory Babylon?!

Like Koz said, Audacity is (and has always been) free software. You can download it legally and for free from the official website as well as lame (see the links provided by koz and steve).

Re: Starlogic turntable, no music

Thank you everyone for the help, I now have sound while the record is playing. Now I have a question, I am using a MAC with the Leopard operating system. What are the steps are necessary to burn from the record to a disk? As you can tell I am not very good at this. Thanks In Audacity export as WAV ...

Re: The final volume level trouble.

You might be looking for dynamic compression. What a dynamic compressor does is to amplify the quieter parts while keeping the louder parts below clipping. In other words it narrows the volume gap between loud and quiet parts. Audacity has a dynamic compressor in the effects menu. There are more plu...

Re: how do line level convertors work?

want to convert from mic level to line level. and maybe from line level to speaker level. i am doing a project to make a sound powered generator or at least make plans for one. i figure that microphones convert sound into electricity but it needs to be amplified to be useful. so i want to amplify i...

Re: Recorded vocal pitch is way too low on playback

Audacity 1.2.4 is quite old... The latest stable is 1.2.6 and that is still quite old... And is not longer being developed. Focus now is on fixing some bugs on the latest beta (1.3.12) for the release of the next stable branch (2.0). It's strongly recommended that you upgrade to 1.3.12. Despite bein...

Re: 1.3.12, Slackware 64, can't choose "default" for recordi

Not all sound cards allow recording "stereo mix". Things in Linux can even get more complex because of all the sound systems available... Are you using pulseaudio or jack? There are ways of redirecting the output of what's playing with some sound systems such as JACK, even if the sound car...
