I usually use memtest86 or memtest86+. One of those not sure which one. You have one of those on ubuntu cd's too.
Let it run for a few hours (during the night for example).

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
If it has a foam windshield I meant one of those optional removable foam covers ... 164731.jpg http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_windschutz_ws60.htm Thomann's reply was that they didn't have any windshield for large diaphragm mics, so I assumed none of those would fit my mic... That in particular ...

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
The mic has two metallic meshes, but not foam. The outter mesh is wider and the inner mesh is thinner. See pics below:
I'll post a pic of the sock later

Re: autotune plugin for ubuntu tutorial
There are two Linux forums, one for audacity 1.2.x and another for audacity 1.3.x (same for the other oses). I moved it to the 1.3 section.
I've never used any autotune plugin before so I can't help with your request sorry.

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
Never thought of putting a sock on the mic but it could work... As for the size I think it should be adult size, because my mic is large. I might try one of my thick hiking socks :P I also bought a pair of ski socks yesterday that might be the right textile for the job. I'll have to wait for the sto...

Re: Record one track while listening to another
I've been working with computers for many years. My experience tells me that when a computer starts to crash randomly in an unexpected way, the first thing to do is to run a memtest. I usually leave it running for a few hours... Memory faults sometimes are detected quickly (with lots of errors on th...

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
There's instructions on how to make a D-I-Y zeppelin (blimp) here ... http://www.joelandkaren.com/mic-zeppelin/ You need to maintain an air gap between the fur and the mic with a cage of some sort, the mesh size makes a difference ... mesh.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW4Gj1RnM2c Thanks for t...

custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
I emailed Thomman asking if Rode's deadcat windshield would fit my T-Bone SC1100, but they replied that they do not have any windshield for large diaphragm mics. All they have are for shotgun mics. So any suggestions on how to make a DIY deadcat without getting in trouble with the animal rights asso...

Re: No Sound After Converting
Two of the most important pieces of information are missing: audacity version and operating system.
In which program are you trying to play the exported files?
If you import the exported files back into audacity do they play?

Re: Static, OS 10.4.11
Audacity 1.2.5 is also an acient version of audacity. The latest stable is 1.2.6 and even that is old and no longer being developed. On Tiger it should work well, but in more recent system it's recommended to upgrade to 1.3.12. Despite being labelled as beta it's actually quite stable, since the rel...
