Re: Merging/Recovering .AU files
There have been reports from more than one person who could successfully use the recovery tools. You're the first one I remember saying the recovery tools crashed. You said you always get the same error message when the recovery tools crash... what error message is that? You posted on the 1.2.x sect...

Re: Project preferences?
I'm not sure how audacity handles the preferences file on window The default location for Audacity Preferences has been given by waxcylinder, but it is also possible to store preferences for multiple versions of Audacity by creating a folder inside the Audacity installation folder and name it "...

Re: email audio embedding & sound effects formats
I completely agree on the mp3 vs wma... I hate wma and I'd never use it unless I didn't have any other option... I don't like mp3's that much either hehe But unfortunately really free and open formats such as ogg vorbis and flac keep being ignore by the makers of the standard media playing software ...

Re: How to make a simple recording
I agree with Bill, I think you're doing it in the wrong sequence... Don't create any track, just hit recording and it will create a new track for you. Whether it will be mono or stereo track depends on what you have on Preferences -> Devices -> Recording Device. If you have 1 channel it will create ...

Re: email audio embedding & sound effects formats
if I could implant an audio file in emails to send to my family I would, especially since some of them play little custom MP3s that I sent to them just fine and others can't seem to play them no matter how much savvy they are or not... on the same type of Windows machines... Those who can't play th...

Re: Is my recording level too low? Is my amplified level ok?
Peaks'd left at 1 db because I love to listen to loud (100 watts RMS), so the amplifier would fall in clliping. Should be -1dB and not +1dB. Anything positive (above 0dB) will cause clipping. Well there is a little foam cushion/filter on the mic which helped when we put that back on but did not eli...

Re: Project preferences?
Default export and save as path is the last used one. I'm not sure if there's a way of forcing always the same. You can have different instances of audacity installed into different folders (but only run one at a time). I'm not a windows user, but I think it should work if you download the zip file ...

Re: email audio embedding & sound effects formats
I think bgravato is right ... the world should be purged of the axis of evil that is audio embedded in to an email. I'd say anything embedded is evil! Your trick wouldn't work with me because I have thunderbird set not to open any attachments (not even images). I'm not that paranoid, I don't do it ...
