Re: Cannot build SVN HEAD on Debian 5 Lenny

I've been able to build svn head on debian, but my system is a mix of lenny, squeeze and sid...

I can try to build it on a pure lenny system, but squeeze shouldn't take much longer to come out so if it builds on squeeze I think it should be ok for the next audacity release.

Re: Playback is 63% slow

How about the length of the recording? Check the time at the end on the top timeline bar. Is the recording time correct? Try exporting to WAV and listen on other program. It can be a playback issue and not a recording issue. Do you still have the first recording you made? If you open it in audacity ...

Re: Trying to record from casette

You should connect it to the line-in and not the mic-in. Mic-in is for mic-level signals which are tiny level signals which need lots of amplification. Headphone output is closer to line-level so you should connect it to the line-in. If you connect it to the mic input you should get a much worse sou...

Re: no sound when exporting to mp3

Any reason for using 'joint stereo' instead of 'stereo'? Have you tried 16 bits depth? If you import the mp3's back to audacity do they play in audacity? Can you successfully play other mp3's in 24 bit depth in those apps? I'm also moving this to the 1.3.x forum, since that's the version in question...

Re: Need Help with Help Manual

I just spent an hour and was close to giving up. You need to create a directory called help in /usr/share/audacity and then unzip the downloaded zip file there. I will try to report this as a bug. Dan That's the procedure described in the instructions here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Unzipp...

Re: crash and data loss when trying to add effects

It's considered to be a good practice to always make backup copies of the show in a lossless format (WAV or FLAC for example).

Re: Is my recording level too low? Is my amplified level ok?

I noticed I didn't post my Audacity version or what OS I am using so I will do that now. Audacity 1.2.6 Recording PC: Windows Vista Editing PC: Windows XP SP2 The recommended version for Vista is 1.3.12 (and pretty much for all other OS's too), it has more features and is actually more stable in mo...
