Re: Imprecise playback, difficult to edit sound
17% isn't too much shouldn't be a problem... My upgrade went well everything working, but I can't record with recordmydesktop with sound (using jack). If I record without sound it's fine, but if i record with --use-jack it complains about the specified area being larger than window! (go figure what ...

Re: Imprecise playback, difficult to edit sound
I can't reproduce that... I'm on Debian (32 bit), Audacity 1.3.12, PulseAudio running. Playback device on Audacity is ALSA: default. If I generate a tone (440Hz), then select 1 second of it and play, it plays 1 second. The cursor moves smoothly... I was going to record a video of it, but I'm current...

Re: recordings get lost
You can undo any action at any time by using the Undo function (Ctrl-Z or Edit menu -> Undo). When you delete the label text if you press backspace again it will delete that label and after that the whole track is selected if you press backspace again (or delete key) it will delete the whole track. ...

Re: Multi-Channel Podcast
I'm afraid there's no easy way to do what you want... To record 4 mics into 4 separate tracks you need a sound card capable of multi-track recording. And the troubles don't stop there... That's the least of the problems. You then need drivers for it, and drivers that work with audacity. Audacity doe...

2) Select the part of the track between 1:50 and 2:15
3) Delete the selection (press Delete/Backspace key or Cmd-K or Edit menu -> Delete)
4) Export the new file (File menu -> Export)

Re: recordings get lost
When it happened, did you try to "undo"? (Ctrl-Z or Edit menu -> Undo)
What operating system do you have? And which audacity version? (Help menu -> About)

Re: Multi-Channel Podcast
You can't have more than 1 usb mic connected to the same computer at the same time (technically it could be possible, but it's calling for trouble). Which operating system are you on? That can make a big difference too. Have a look at this thread about multitrack recording: http://forum.audacityteam...

Re: Lost keyboard focus after import (Ubuntu) [patch]
I can reproduce the same in Audacity 1.3.12beta from the official Debian package on x86 (32 bits).
I remember I experienced something similar some time ago. I think I posted it somewhere here on the forum... but that was a long time ago I doubt I'll found that thread again

Re: how to create static build with audacity 1.2.6?
Have you ever run a memtest on that machine? Random crashes/freezes can often me buggy memory... Sometimes can be just a single bit at the very end of the memory range, and only when using more memory-hungry apps, such as audacity, all the memory range is used... Sometime ago I had such a problem on...
