Re: Behringer Xenyx 802 with Tascam US 428?
Connect the mic to the mic preamp using an XLR cable. Connect the line output (I'm guessing it's what they call main mix output) of the preamp to one of the line level inputs of the tascam. Read on the manuals of each equipment the kind of connectors you need, but it's probably two male jack connect...

Re: Logitech USB Head set w/ mic -- "error while opening..."
After some quick googling I also found this very old thread: http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133130 And also this post, which is a reply to a somewhat different problem, but the explanation might help you understand better how it works: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?me...

The usb headset might not support the sample rate you're trying to play.
(for some reason, on the error message, it pointed to that as a possibility...)

Re: .m4b skips on iPod
<<Didn't know AAC remembers position ...>> It's not the AAC that does that, it's iTunes that does the remembering of current playback position. I didn't know about the "m4b" file format, so I searched for more info about it. It appears to be a modified mpeg-4 container similar to m4a file...

Re: Logitech USB Head set w/ mic -- "error while opening..."
Which Audacity version do you have? 1.3.12 is the recommended. If you have an older version consider upgrading.
What's the sample rate of the project you're trying to play? (check the box on Audacity's lower left corner where it says "Project rate")

Re: Samson C01U Microphone
When recording on Audacity, it is quite echoy and cold sounding - as if im sitting far away from the microphone in an empty room, when infact its right infront of me and the only thing between myself and the mic is a pop filter. Are you using a laptop with a built-in mic? Make sure you selected the...

Re: Digital Sampling equality
Yes I understood what you meant before. Here goes a somewhat more technical explanation of what may be happening... Before going digital, when you still have an analog signal, you have electrical tensions and currents going on the wires that connect the mic to the sound card. Typical values vary dep...

Re: Default "Fit Vertically"
That's the behaviour I'm experiencing here too. Audacity 1.3.12.rikr wrote:Ok, but with this option, only when stop the record, fit vertically, not before. It's normal?

Re: Default "Fit Vertically"
Thank you Steve, I missed that one. I thought I had seen a request for that on the wiki, but it was actually a request for it to be on by default... My mistake.

Re: wav files cannot be played back
Koz, I'm not sure here if nicholas wanted to create a music cd... from what he said I'm more lean to believe that he wanted a data cd, but he can clear that out for us
On the export dialog make sure you select "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM" from the format drop down menu.
