Re: recommended microphone
And when I say "only for voice" I mean it as in speech... not as in singing... just to be clear.

Re: recommended microphone
If it's only for voice you might do ok with a cheaper usb mic. There have been good reviews from some users on this model from logitech: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-co ... evices/221

Re: Problem Installing "PNG" Effects Plugin in Audacity Beta
I still don't get your thing with the "PNG format". PNG files are image files, like JPEG or GIF. I can't understand how could you possibly use an image as an audio effect... Audio samples at freesound.org are usually available in wav, flac, mp3, ogg vorbis, etc... That's the formats you sh...

Re: Playback is at uneven rate
There's not attachments in your post... How big was the wav? You can only upload up to 1MB I think. Files bigger than that you'll have to upload to somewhere else (megaupload, zshare, mediafire, etc. pick your favourite). BTW, advertised specs usually don't mean a thing... you can't usually measure ...

Re: Can't compile Audacity from SVN on Fedora 14
I'm assuming you already read the compile instructions for linux here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Developing_On_Linux I believe you need ffmpeg 0.5 and not 0.6. Re: Problem Installing "PNG" Effects Plugin in Audacity Beta

Re: audacity not recording with microphone?
If you're using an usb mic, you should connect it to the computer before opening audacity.
Like Cytheria said, go to Preferences -> Devices and make sure you selected the right recording device.

Re: recommended microphone
Norm, how are you connecting the mic to the laptop? Does the laptop have a mic input and/or line input? Could be that you're connecting it to a line level input, which won't work. Laptop's soundcards are usually not know for being the best thing around... specially when it comes to inputs (unless yo...
