Re: input mixer toolbar not shown
My input for the mixer is not shown. It is greayed out. I want to reocrd via line in and I can only reocord using the mic? You're missing a lot of info there... Operating System? Audacity versino? Recording device? How do you have it all connected? What is greyed out? Where? You can select the reco...

Re: All my Sound Cards Produce Some Form of DC Offset
Is this a common issue with cheap audio cards? I'd say it's not uncommon... DC offset is usually quite harmless though and easy to correct. I just checked on my macbookpro and there's no dc offset neither on the built-in line-in nor on the built-in mic. Also tested my desktop computer ('normal' pc ...
Re: line in
If you're using the usb box then you should select the usb device in audacity -> preferences -> devices -> recording
Also, if you're on Windows 7 you should install audacity 1.3.12 and not 1.2.6, like you said on the other thread.
No need to stress, just take a deep breath and relax

Re: recording
What you're doing wrong is using audacity 1.2.x with windows 7.
Upgrade to 1.3.12. You can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Re: unwanted echo effect
From PM: Hi! Thanks for trying to help me. Unfortunatly, I'm still not getting it to work. I can kill the echo effect during record by turning down the output volume on the mixer toolbar, but then I can't hear the music I'm trying to record with. Everything sounds fine as long as I don't hit record....

Re: Sudden quit when playing track - every single time
I tried to reproduce this. I created a project with one minute long track and many small stereo tracks with like 2 or 3 seconds each. I'm not sure how many tracks I had, but it were plenty! I tried to play it back. It didn't crash, but it practically froze my mac for a few minutes until I was able t...

Re: Sudden quit when playing track - every single time
That raised another question on my mind... is there a way to know how many tracks there are in a project other than counting them 1 by 1?

Yes... 90 tracks can be quite a bit...
Audacity does not auto-update... Koz wasn't talking about Audacity, he was talking about the apple updates to the system, etc...richardmiller wrote:(no auto-update set on this Mac - I installed Audacity manually))

Re: any other way besides a mic to record?
Logitech usb desktop mics are regarded as pretty decent for the price, but don't expect studio quality audio... USB audio interface is, as the name suggests, an interface. In other words it's a piece of equipment that allows you to connect one equipment to another one... in this case a mic to the co...
