Re: Mic splitting question.
Here's a sample from Koz of how a guitar sounds on the logitech mic: http://www.kozco.com/tech/MicTests/Logi ... icTest.wav

Re: Mic splitting question.
This thread could also go in the Recording Equipment section, to where I think I'll move it to. Computer built-in soundcards are usually quite crappy when it comes to recording, specially because they lack proper (if any) shielding, which means you'll get a lot of electromagnetic interference... The...

Re: Recording audio from sound board
Apparently you didn't record the show... I can think of 3 possible causes: 1) you didn't have the line-in selected as the recording device on audacity 2) the tech guy wasn't outputing the right signal to the xlr output, or the xlr output was not a line level signal 3) the conversion from XLR to 1/4&...

Re: Mic splitting question.
Oh and BTW, you posted in the 1.2.x section of the forum, so if you're really still using Audacity 1.2.x, I'd recommend upgrading to the latest 1.3.13, specially if you're on Vista or 7. Despite being labelled as beta it has reached a quite mature state. Official download site: http://audacityteam.o...

Re: Mic splitting question.
In a straight answer: no! The blue socket is a line input, it's expecting a line level signal. The signal from the mic is a very tiny signal which needs a lot of amplification. Connecting a mic to a line-in will get you barely any sound... Hooking two mics in the mic input will mix the signals from ...
Re: DB Levels
That's not 5dB that's 0.5 in a scale from 0 to 1, which means half of the amplitude or in dB that would be -6dB (being 0dB the max. amplitude). Clipping (which causes distortion) usually ocurrs when the amplitude goes over 1.0 (or 0dB). This is not the case here, so it means the clipping is ocurring...

Re: What is MP3 "Quality" setting all about?
Quality is used when encoding with a variable bitrate (VBR). Constant bitrate (CBR) means the same bitrate is used through all the encoding. By using a VBR it is possible to optimize better the quality of the encoding (for the same size) or reduce size of the file (for the same apparent quality). Wh...

Re: Copy/paste all 23 tracks to double song length
First it's highly recommended that you upgrade to the latest 1.3.13. The version you're using is a bit outdated and many bug fixes have been made since. I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do in your problem 1, but it looks to me that you're looking for the time shift tool: click the ico...

Re: Why does Audacity Record Already Recorded Tracks?
No, if you keep recording from the stereo mix, the same thing will happen regardless of using an audio interface or not...Godwinlee wrote:its the microphone recording device option that when i press record it records the guitar again would getting an audio interface solve that?

Re: Why does Audacity Record Already Recorded Tracks?
Now on whether you need an external device or not... make sure first your laptop doesn't have a line in... In the device list in the recording devices in Audacity do you have a line-in option? Same laptops have a shared mic-in/line-in in the same socket. Some people have also reported to have some r...
