Re: Opening a *.WAV file

Actually, I opened and played the file the other responder opened, modified by adding 1 second. It has a wav extension and it plays just like what I wanted. I'm more confused than ever. That's because Edgar's file is actually a WAV file. He exported it in WAV format. Your file isn't... despite the ...

Re: Recording audio using an external Mic

Which Audacity version and MacOSX version? You posted in the 1.2.x part of the forum, if you're using such version and you're on a recent mac (10.5 or higher), you should upgrade to the latest 1.3.13. There have been some reports of such problems which usb headsets on macs... Check this thread: http...

Re: Recording issues

You probably don't need software playthrough to be on... Does the clipping ocurr on the P's? You might need a pop filter in front of the mic... Can also be intermittent noise or connection... check the wire. Start recording and without anyone in front of the mic, try touching the wires/connectors se...

Re: Opening a *.WAV file

I believe audacity relies on the file extension to recognize the file format... The file has .wav extension, audacity expects a wav format, which is not...

Try change the file extension to .mp3 and import it again. Does that work?

2. In Audacity, I clicked on "Import > MIDI". You forgot to mention that little, but important, detail... From the wiki here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Midi You can read: MIDI and Audacity Stable (1.2.x) releases of Audacity can currently only import MIDI files to view them. Beta ...

Re: Equal Loudness normalizing

I think I downloaded it, but I haven't tried it yet. Sorry, Steve. I'd like to try this on my next dj set... One of my frequent tasks before I mix and render the sets is to try to put all tracks at about the same loudness. I usually try to amplify to the same peak value, but as one might expect that...

Re: Need help getting Mic , etc. for voice recording

Built-in soundcards that come with most desktop computers or laptops usually suck (mostly because they lack proper shielding and they get all sort of electromagnetic interference from the other computer components). So buying a "jack type" of mic is usually a not very interesting option......

Re: empty data files

The files did not go missing during a transfer from one pc to another. It always worries us everytime someone talks about transfering audacity projects from one computer to another... That can be a source of problems if it doesn't look like it at first... Audacity projects are made of two parts: an...

Re: Help!

BTW, you mentioned something about an usb device as the output... what is that? usb headset? If the output sound is going to an external device then the internal sound card probably won't be able to capture it... So either pick stereo mix for the usb device if available, or set the soundmax soundcar...
