Re: ART Dual Pro problem
I suppose you're talking about the ART USB Dual Pre (and not "Pro", which doesn't exist), which is a mic preamp with usb interface. Which mic are you using? How do you connect it to the preamp? Does it need phantom power? If so you'll have to push down the phantom power button on the back. Even if y...

Re: Determining a frequency of audio cut
There is no such thing as "recording frequency". In your audio sample I believe you mean between 0.30 and 0.80 seconds, since it's only 1.65 seconds long. Yes, if I play it at half speed it sounds like if the word "animal" is being said. Each sound in nature, such as voice, is very complex in freque...

Re: Ubuntu 11.04 and ntfs. very slow
NTFS support on Linux is not that good. I don't recommend using NTFS on linux for regular use. It works fine on my computer - I've never had any problem with it, though I hear that it is very sensitive to driver problems. If the hard drive, or its drivers are below par then it is likely to perform ...

Re: recording vinyl tot my computer
If you're using pulse audio you probably also want to install pulseaudio volume control (please correct me if I typed the name wrongly).
If you press record does it record anything?
If software playthrough is disabled you might not hear it while recording.

Re: Audacity K.O. after installing Rosegarden/ Qjackctl / Qs
How do you have the mic connected to the computer? Is it a laptop's built-in mic? USB mic? A mic connected to the mic input of the sound card? Make sure you have the right recording device selected in the Preferences -> Devices -> Recording device. What have you selected as Host there? Are you using...

Re: Ubuntu 11.04 and ntfs. very slow
I wonder what the test results were... NTFS support on Linux is not that good. I don't recommend using NTFS on linux for regular use. If the goal is to have files available in both systems (windows and linux) a FAT partition would be preferrable... The only problem with FAT is that you can't have fi...

Re: Equalizer: Cannot load saved settings on Ubuntu 11.04
sirvenue is probably running audacity 1.2.6 on windows. I believe that screenshot was took on windows.
Audacity 1.3.13 is quite different from the ancient 1.2.6. There are a lot of differences and improvements. So most menus and effect might have a very different look in 1.3.13.

Re: Determining a frequency of audio cut
You probably mean the sample rate. If you play an audio file at a different rate than it was recorded at it will sound differently. Usually that information should be in the file and it should be automatically detected by the player. But that depends also on the file format and how it was recorded.....

Re: Determining a frequency of audio cut
What do you mean by recording frequency? Are you referring to the recording sample rate? Our do you want to do a frequency analysis of the recorded audio? For the latter import the audio into Audacity, select the portion of the audio that you want to analyze and select "Plot Spectrum..." from the An...

I haven't tried to put absurd values/syntaxes in the intermediate points... should I also check if it is dumb-proof?
