Re: Connecting two files.

I have two saved mp3 files. Is there a way to connect them, so they play in sequence? I do not have the original audacity files for them, just the finished (exported) mp3 files. Yes you can merge both files and append one to the end of the other. Like Koz said you can do that in audacity, by import...

Re: Lo-fi "distortion" when monitoring line-in

@CaptainSlow if you are reading, what version of Audacity do you have on Debian 6.0 (see Help > About Audacity)? Audacity's version on debian stable (6.0 aka Squeeze) is 1.3.12. CaptainSlow's post is from June 10th, at that time debian's audacity build was 1.3.12-3. More information about debian (s...

Re: Lo-fi "distortion" when monitoring line-in

Thank you for your detailed report. Audacity does a lot of probing when it starts up, trying to find which devices are available. That probing can somehow mess up either pulseaudio or the also driver for your soundcard. Things like trying to playback at different sample rates can do that. I usually ...

Re: Need help with Gverb -- Making a Siren Effect

I can't really help you with the gverb settings, but you might also want to have a look at other free reverb plugins. Many of them are listed in this thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 28&t=57345

Re: Lo-fi "distortion" when monitoring line-in

There was a recent report of a similar problem when using pulseaudio's loopback module: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 18&t=59705

Do you have that module loaded? If you unload it does the hiss stop?

Re: Loud noise in Audacity with with Pulse Audio loopback

Have you tried the command "pactl unload-module module-loopback" to unload the loopback module?

Re: Loud noise in Audacity with with Pulse Audio loopback

I'm not very familiar with pulseaudio, but I think you can unload the loopback module without having to reboot... I'm a bit in a rush now and I don't have linux near now, but I'll look into that again later.

Re: Loud noise in Audacity with with Pulse Audio loopback

The most obvious solution seems to be not using the loopback module.

On Audacity if you enable software playthrough you should be able to listen to what you're recording. Select the line-in as the recording device in Audacity.

Re: Choice of microphone for a young person to record with.

Would I need a mixer that speakers can be connected to as well as the mic and that connected to the computer, or could I just plug that straight into the mic socket of the computer? The mic input on computer (built-in) soundcards is usually quite crappy... If you're on a low budget, then an usb mic...

Re: Another copy running

Had the same problem, and it turned out that a running skype instance (with no audio sessions on it, though) bothered audacity. After killing skype(crap) Audacity was started promtply and server it's purpose. Hope this helps other lost noobz like myself. Thanks for sharing that cyco_mf. Skype is us...
