You need to select "stereo mix" (name can be different in some systems) as the recording device. Not all computers running Windows 7 or Visa have that option available...

I'm assuming you have selected the USB device as the recording device in Preferences -> Devices and you've set it to record in stereo (2 channels). How do you connect the turntable to the usb device? I didn't find any noticeable difference between 1.3.13-beta and 1.3.14-alpha-Aug-27 I also tried with .ogg and .wav files, but the results are similar to the ones with .mp3 files.
