Re: compressed wav IMA ADPCM, 22050Hz, 4-bit, Mono.

If you feel comfortable using the command line, you'll probably find many command-line apps that will allow you to convert ogg vorbis to wav... To search the ubuntu repositories you can use "apt-cache search keywords " on the command line. For example: apt-cache search ogg wav convert That will retu...

Re: Portable CD burning apparatus?

First some background on myself... I'm an electronics engineer, I've been using computers for the last 20 years or so (I'm only 30, but I started playing around with them quite early :P). I started with DOS, then windows, like most ppl. For the last 12/13 years I've been using mostly Linux on all my...

Re: Need a way to convert MP3s to WAVs in automated batch mo

Using audicity to simply convert an mp3 to wav is too much overkill... you can perfectly do it on the command line (if your not afraid of it... and if you know a bit of shell scripting should be easy, if not I can try to post some examples...). You have many command line mp3 decoders such as lame or...

Re: Linux Ubuntu, dual boot installation problem during part

First, like Steve said, you would probably get more replies in ubuntu forums... About the missing option... I'm just guessing here... but maybe the option doesn't show because, most likely, the ubuntu partitioning software is not capable of resizing you're windows partition (there could be many reas...

Re: Problems recording

I'm not familiarized (yet) with pulseaudio... but if you're goal here is to record the soundtrack from an youtube video I can think of easier ways which do not involve using audacity... (you can then open the saved file into audacity and do all the editing you need) If that's not your goal sorry for...

Re: audacity sometimes won't start when devices change

You're certainly not alone there - I think everyone finds it a mystery. OSS4 seems to be the most straightforward option, but has less hardware support than ALSA and looks to be more limited for music production - the licensing terms may also be a bit problematic for the major Linux distros. Once u...

Re: audacity sometimes won't start when devices change

Like some ppl might say... Backups? Nah... I prefer to live on the edge! I've been "playing" around with linux for the last 12 years or so... (personally and professionally) I think I can say I have a fairly good knowledge of how the system works... So I might take the chance of messing up my main s...
