If you're getting left channel only then you're getting stereo, not mono.

How many mics do you have connected to your external device? If it's only one mic then it's normal to get sound only on one channel.

Re: Mac os 10.6.3 sound problems on usb input

usb devices should always be connected before opening audacity, otherwise audacity will fail to find it.

Re: Problem with overdub...

If none of this works for you, would you consider using Jack audio system? Ideally Jack should run on a Real Time Kernel (as in Ubuntu Studio) but I've had Audacity 1.3.12 run well with Jack on a stock Ubuntu installation. I run jack in non-realtime mode (I built a RT kernel, but then I had problem...

Re: Setup for mobile recording with wireless mic?

I didn't check the specs for the mic, but I'd recommend the Art USB Dual Pre, you can read my short review on the link koz mentions on his previous post... I bought mine for 100 euros. If you're in europe that's probably the average price you should find it. If you're in north america you might be a...

Re: how to isolate instrument from song?

Audacity is free software you don't have to pay for it... You can freely download and use it. You can of course make a donation if you wish: http://audacityteam.org/community/donate You won't get any unlocked special feature for it, except for that warm inner feeling some ppl get when they do good d...

Re: Yamaha Sound Board Issues

Regarding how I know it recorded from both the built-mic and sound board at the same time when I listened to the recording it picked a up a conversation I had with another person while we recorded from the sound board. Most likely it was capturing everything from the builti-in mic. Regarding the mp...

Re: Yamaha Sound Board Issues

The usb device is the Yamaha sound board. When I have the input device "built-in mic" selected it records from BOTH the sound board and the built-in mic and the volume is adjustable How can you be so sure it's recording from _both_ the sound board and the built-in mic? I found that very weird... If...

Re: Legal?

I take that ppl should be smart enough to, before buying any software on ebay, do a little search on google about it... Then they would easily find out they can download audacity for free... If they're too stupid or lazy to do that, then maybe they deserve to be charged for their dumbness... Distrib...
