Re: Why does it seem to take forever for Audacity to open?
or go back to the stable release. That's not a very good idea on a recent mac running recent macos-x... Audacity stable version is known for not working very well (or not working at all) in recent macs and recent macos-x versions. I have a 2 years-old macbook pro running snow leopard and audacity 1...

Re: mp3 playback problems
What options did you select for your mp3 export? Which mode, bitrate, etc.? What version of audacity are you using? What OS? Can you play the mp3 in your computer? In which player? What player is she using? iTunes? Some players can be picky about some mp3 files, specially if using variable bitrate...

Re: strange noise
Looking at my screenshot looks like the peak is at about -66dB. I'll try later to short circuit the inputs and see if there's any difference. I also noticed a considerable decrease in noise level when I lower the gain on the preamp from the max (48dB) to 30dB. Below 30dB the difference in the noise ...

Re: recording
Thank you so very much. I went to the Device preferences and put it on "in-line" microphone. It works great now!!! Thanks Naomi I'm assuming here you're using a RCA to jack cable, connected the laptop's mic input socket. You shouldn't be using mic input to connect a line level input... that usually...

Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
You're very welcome Charlie. A glass of fine wine and good music - now there's a nice combination :) +1 :) (and I'm lucky to live in a country with very good wine at very affordable prices ;) ) Regarding the initial question about dedicated sound cards... You can read some reviews here on this thre...

Re: strange noise
What's the proper way to measure noise level? In lack of a better way I used Contrast Analysis tool (see screenshot below). This is for my ART USB Dual Pre connected to my MacBookPro USB Port, powered from the usb only. No mics connected to the preamp inputs. Both channels' gain at max. Phantom powe...

Re: Ethernet Device setting for recording??
That's because you can't do that. Ethernet and networking in general don't do live audio (or video) because of the oddball delays. Ethernet is not like making a land-line phone call and then hanging up. Ethernet works on transmission, correction, and collision management. The first data collision a...

Re: WAV Audio Electronic Glitches
If you can hear the glitches on the recorded wav they probably come from the ripping process. Try using another ripping software. Some allow you to select the level of "paranoia" when ripping and/or abort ripping if errors are detected. Some also allow to specify the amount of retries when errors oc...
