Re: Audacity and Gnome Wave Cleaner
I recently recorded and saved wav files from audacity which I then opened in gwc without problems... On a terminal window type: file /home/jwt/Music/Test.wav What does it say? You should see something like this: $ file 24a-small-sample.wav 24a-small-sample.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio,...

Re: cd burning?
The full interface may be a little intimidating for novice users because it includes support for many advanced formats and features: multiple drive support, multiple copies, data verification, bootable CD support, mixed mode CDs and other advanced features. However they also include an "idiot-proof...

Re: RECORDIND DISTORTS AFTER 5 MINUTES IN UBUNTU-LUCID
If it says 686 then it's a 32 bits cpu. 1GB of ram nowadays is not that much, but for linux should be enough to prevent from using the swap unless too many apps open at the same time... Just for curiosity, how much RAM do you have? Is your system 32 bits or 64 bits?

Re: RECORDIND DISTORTS AFTER 5 MINUTES IN UBUNTU-LUCID
On Linux (as in other OSes) you always have many processes running in background, even if you're not running X. You can see all the running processes by typing in the command line: ps ax 99 processes is not that much, and it's probably not the number of running processes that is messing your system....

Re: cd burning?
I was never much of a nero fan... specially the most recent versions with too many eye candy and features and wizards and whatever... nero version 10 years ago was nice, but now i'd prefer k3b a thousand times more

On Linux I'd recommend k3b.
On MacOS-X you can use itunes or some other app from the bundled software.

People do all sort of weird/wrong/disgusting things to earn a few buckets, including selling free software, selling kidneys, or selling their own mother (so they say...).

Re: Recording troubles
Oddly as it may seem, audacity 1.3.x will work better in most cases...
