art usb dual pre has +48dB gain maximum I think. It's solid state and besides the usb output also has analog monitor outputs.

Re: Tascam US-428 W/ Audacity?

How do you connect it to your computer? USB?

Connect it, then run Audacity, go to Preferences -> Devices and select your USB device as the recording device.

If you connect through audio cable to the line-in interface of your sound card, then select line-in as the recording device.

Re: Uninstalling Audacity from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx)

What a big mess... I always discourage compiling software when it's available from the distro's repositories... Manually deleting files to uninstall an app is usually not a good policy either... The correct procedure for uninstalling compiled from source software is like steve said... 'cd' into the ...

Re: Memory leak

I don't think that's memory leak you're experiencing. I think it's normal that the memory used increases every time you apply an effect. That's probably audacity saving all the data necessary for the UNDO function... Every time you apply an effect you have the possibility to undo that action... Undo...

Re: New MAC user - old PC user

Most mics I've seen with a jack connector have a mono jack. I haven't seen any with a stereo jack... (at least on the cheap/crappy ones :P)

Re: New MAC user - old PC user

Looking at that pic I remember I've already seen one of those 3 rings jack connector in some mobile accessories... I wasn't aware that newer MBPs had that kind of socket... In that case I take back what I said previously... Koz, another way they could detect wether it's a mic or line-in connected to...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

(I'll be testing their top model, the SCT2000 against some expensive brand name professional studio microphones in a few weeks, which I'm looking forward to. I'll post the key points in the review section when testing is complete). Looking forward to it. I wonder how the SC1200 compares to the SC11...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

That looks like the preamp I have and that I was talking about (ART USB Dual Pre). Is that price canadian dollars? If so that sounds like a good price for it too. On the rear of the preamp you have (stereo) headphone output, you can connect that to headphones (preferred so that the sounds doesn't lo...

Re: HELP PLEASE!

Also "HELP PLEASE" is not the best subject selection, it's a bit too vague... Try to be a bit more specific on the subject next time. I speak for myself but I usually skip threads with subjects like that. A more specific subject will probably catch more attention and get you a faster reply (contrary...
