I'm not sure how much I paid for them, it has been a few years ago... I think may...

Re: How to make PWD directory the default?
Well... I prefer vim :P Audacity is a graphical app. I wouldn't consider opening it from the command line with filename as argument to be the typical use of it. Re: Newbie question: how to get audacity to run?

From the command line: sudo apt-get install audacity
Or use your favourite graphical package manager, such as synaptic or other...

Re: Sound problems after first experiments with Jack
I'm not sure how the sound card provide/manage the virtual outputs, but I'd say that for that to work in linux the linux driver for the sound card need to be able to manage that and provide several instances of the sound card... Like if you had more than one sound card on the system... See the ALSA ...

Re: Recover unsaved recordings (no crash involved)
The system periodically cleans up the folder /tmp (the files there are supposed to be temporary so the system regularly cleans them up so no "lost dead remains" stay there taking space... Maybe it was a long period of time between recording and when you tried to save your project and the f...

Re: USB mics
More than one usb mic connected to the same computer at the same time is usually regarded as trouble maker... Specially in windows, according to many testimonials, that's strongly discouraged...
If you need to connect more than one mic to the same system than an external mixer is the way to go...
