Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks
If this project is Saved and the option "Do not copy any audio" has been selected, the project will still depend on the external WAV/AIFF/Flac file for all unchanged "virtual blocks". These will be shown in the AUP file as .AUF files (pcmaliasblockfiles). Any data blocks that ha...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks
Thinking about this raised a doubt... I haven't work with this before so if someone could clarify I'd be thankful... What happens when I import a WAV file into a project? I believe that there's an option not to save that into the project data right? Like when I open the project it will load that tra...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks
Are you suggesting that Audacity should compare the audio data in the project with the original source file and see if it matches, or that Audacity should check through the History to see if any operations have occurred that would have caused the data to change, or something else? Would Audacity do...

Re: Set recording wayyy too much bass...
What laptop do you have and what operating system are you running? You'll hardly get any gound sound from a mic input. It's expecting a tiny fragile signal from a mic, not a powerful line level signal, it will amplify it a lot and cause a lot of distortion. Some laptops, such as macbooks have a mic/...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks
I haven't used the compressed project feature yet, but if it behaves like DickN said, then I must generally agree with what he says. If this goes to the wiki add a +1 vote for me please.

Re: separating tracks once they have been merged, an saved
If you no longer have the audacity project and you only have the mp3, then the answer is no... It's like uncooking a cake after you take it from the oven and obtaining the initial ingredients... no can do...

Re: Set recording wayyy too much bass...
How are you connecting the mixer to the laptop? Does your laptop have a line-in port? Or are you connecting it to the mic-in? Mic-in port is not suitable for line-in level signals... If that's the case consider buying a line-in -> usb adapter... The behringer uca-202 is often recommended here on the...

I couldn't hear any special guitar effects on that tune... what effect were you referring to?

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks
With bigger storage you can export the recorded project to an uncompressed WAV file on the portable drive. DickN mentioned he was already exporting as FLAC+labels file before founding about compressed projects, so I guess that's not the issue here. Regarding external hard-drives I'm pretty happy wi...

Re: Time Shift Tool
You posted on the 1.2.x part of the forum, are you still using a 1.2.x version of audacity? If so consider upgrading to 1.3.x I don't have a 1.2.x version here to test but on 1.3.12, only one track should move when using the time shift tool, unless you have all tracks selected... Try unselecting all...
