Re: No Overdub with Rock Band USB Mic
What is a "rock band" usb mike ?? If you googled for it before asking you'd know. How does an analog mike hiss ?? Your preamp may add hiss but the low impedance of a normal mike should have less hiss than a "rock band" or any kind of usb mike. lexen problem has nothing to do wit...

Re: Sounds "raw"
For dynamic compression try Chris' compressor. Quite popular here on the forum.

Re: No Overdub with Rock Band USB Mic
Can you explain better how does audacity stop recording?
When you select the usb mic as recording device and you try to record a 2nd tracks with overdub on, what happens when you click the record button?

Re: Non-clipping distortion
I may have been standing a little closer than that, but the amount of noise does seem excessive. I'm not sure how to adjust the input settings on my device - I have a Samsung Moment, which runs Android, but is not a Droid. When you say compression artifacts - is that from changing the file format? ...

Re: No project window after loading music file
I am using Mac OS 10.6.5, I've been using Audacity 1.3.12-beta and find that all of a sudden I have no "Project window" at all. When I load a file and I hit the space bar the music will play but there is no proj. win. I've been using Audacity for about one month and have had no major issu...

Re: Recording in Audacity while it's not the active program?
The problem is, I can't figure out how to use the controls in Audacity while I'm in game. I have no idea how FRAPS accomplishes this. Even if I set FRAPS to not be "always on top" the controls still work. Is it possible to do this with Audacity? AFAIK no and I don't know any other app tha...

Re: recording
It is possible... If your connection is mic -> mixer -> line-in you have to select line-in as the input to audacity. 1) select line-in as the recording device in audacity 2) import the mp3 track to audacity 3) set overdub ON and software/hardware playthrough OFF 4) turn off your speakers and listen ...

Re: Non-clipping distortion
I can only hear noise... I'm afraid there's not way of recovering anything that could sound like music from that...
