Re: 1.2 Crashes At Launch
Exporting to other formats is even easier with 1.3.12. 1) import your audio file into audacity 2) from the file menu select "Export..." 3) a window will pop asking the name and destination of the exported file 4) at the lower right of that window from the drop-down menu select "WAV (M...

Re: No Overdub with Rock Band USB Mic
I may some day move to a firewire mixboard, but short of that, a USB mic is the way to go. You don't necessarily need to go firewire to have good quality sound on your computer... There are USB devices which are perfectly capable and not expensive. There are some internal soundcards which also have...

Re: AI is genuine stupidity - search nfg
Searching for rather than gives only one result (this thread).
If you put the text between quotes it will search for the complete phrase. The same works for google.

Re: data recovery
AFAIK there is no metadata in the .AU files to help. If you were using Audacity 1.2.x, the files that are created during recording are in numerical order. If using Audacity 1.3.x they are not, and the only thing left to help you is the time stamp, (which I guess is no longer available?) Steve, if t...

Re: Files seemingly intact. No audio
Yes, I have those files/folders, but it doesn't seem to be enough files - 4, in total - for a 35 minute recording. Yes, I hear some 'chipmunk type' sound. 4 files only sounds bad... there should be hundreds of them for a 35 min show. Something must have gone terribly wrong... Upgrading to 1.3.12 is...

Re: data recovery
I'm not sure of this, but I think there's no metadata in the files that will help put them in order... You could do that by the file creation timestamp, but I'm guessing you don't have that available either... What audacity version and which operating system was running on the computer that crashed?...
