Re: Ubuntu 10.10 errors when I change the temp files directo
I'd agree with bgravato that using an NTFS partition is probably not a very good idea, though it should work provided that (a) the partition is mounted before you open Audacity, and (b) you have read/write permissions for the location. I don't know what's the default ntfs driver on ubuntu, if it's ...

Re: Will XtremeGamer sound card work with Audacity
What to use for playback? I do not like Windows Media Player It depends on what you want. Foobar2000 is pretty lightweight but supports virtually all known audio formats. It also has basic library features, very good format conversion and CD ripping. For something that looks prettier and has really...

Re: Get error message when I use save as (Linux)
If you type the line below on a terminal console window does it complain about not having permission? touch /media/Media/Aufnahmen/m.aup If the command is successful and the file does not exist, it will create an empty file with that name (which you can safely remove). If the file exists it won't da...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10 errors when I change the temp files directo
I was trying to use an NTFS partition on a seperate HDD and it wouldn't work. I have now selected a folder in my /home folder (its on a seperate partition from the Ubuntu install) and it works just fine. :D I thought it might be an issue of NTFS vs Ext4 but now that I read your post it makes more s...

Dell doesn't tell us what operating system you're running... If it's Windows Vista or 7 it's recommended that you upgrade to the latest beta 1.3.12.
You can download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Re: importing a file
On Macs, specially those running MacOS-X 10.5.x or later it's strongly recommended that you upgrade to 1.3.12.
You can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_mac
Despite being labeled as beta it is far more stable than the old 1.2.x versions on modern macs.

On Mac, it's strongly recommended that you upgrade to 1.3.12. Despite being labeled as 'beta' it is far more stable on modern macs (running leopard or snow leopard).

Re: distortion?
You definitely should download 1.3.12. Despite being labelled as beta it is far more stable than 1.2.6, specially on mac's, on which there many known bugs and it's actually a surprise that you can use it without ever noticing any problem. You are strongly encouraged to upgrade to 1.3.12, don't be sc...

Re: distortion?
BTW, you posted on the 1.2.x part of the forum... are you really still using that version? On modern macs (running leopard or later) is strongly recommended that you upgrade to 1.3.12 (eventhough it's labeled beta, it's far more stable that 1.2.x, which actually is pretty unusable on leopard and sno...
