Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
How about something like this for the download link at the top of the download page: Audacity-download-logo.png Should have other non-white background inside the rounded rectangle so that it looks a bit more like a clickable button (and should be smaller too probably). But it's just to give an idea ...

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
I think it's OK to have some text in the download page, but there should be a big attention-catcher image saying 'click here to download'. Like the one on Firefox website:

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
I'll call your attention to the download page. http://audacityteam.org/download/ I can't make a silly graphic out of that because IT'S NOT BROKEN! It's simple. It has graceful layout and appropriate graphic elements that pull you into the right decision and it doesn't take fifteen scrolls-down to s...

Re: Will XtremeGamer sound card work with Audacity
I think that any media player that doesn't play flac or ogg vorbis out-of-the-box should be shot to death :) I used iTunes (as well as Safari) when I first bought my macbookpro nearly 3 years ago... iTunes was a bit too much "overkill" then but it was still usable (and Safari was fast). Th...

Re: Get error message when I use save as (Linux)
NTFS is not very good option for writing on Linux... it has too many issues...
The ntfs-3g driver is fairly functional but still... there are some issues... specially if you try to change file permissions/ownership (don't know if audacity does that when it saves files, but maybe it does).

Re: Get error message when I use save as (Linux)
What is the filesystem on the partition you're trying to write to? Is it NTFS? Or is it a linux partition? If it's not a linux partition, does the same problem also happen when saving to a folder in a linux partition?

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
In the absence of Audacity version information supplied by the user, the 1.2 and 1.3 sections seem very important to me. The majority of users are still on 1.2 as you can see by the post count, and 1.2 and 1.3 are very different programs. I think the post count is misleading... Many users that post...

A little perspective. This is what the forum looks like to a New User. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityForum.png Koz So I'm not the only one thinking that there are too many sections in this forum? :) Since we're touching this subject, here goes my 2 cents... I believe most users don...

Re: Get error message when I use save as (Linux)
The command touch /media/Media/Aufnahmen/m.aup simply creates an empty file called m.aup, just as you said. That means you have write permissions in that location (you can delete that empty m.aup file now, it only purpose was to test writing permissions). But I forgot to mention: When I try to save...
