That's a known problem with a gnome applet which name I don't remember now. It has been discussed here sometime ago, but I can't find the thread now...

One thing that could also help giving some more info about the crash would be running Audacity from the command line and checking the error messages (if any). Assuming you followed the instruction for installing audacity on mac and you created a folder "Audacity" inside the "Applicati...

I don't have aversion to alphas, but I usually have some "laziness" to anything that requires more than typing "apt-get install <whatever>" to install it
(or dragging an icon from a .dmg to applications if i'm on mac
)
