Re: cannot get audacity to record on ubuntu 10.10 x64
I forgot these two command line scripts for converting audio formats which are available on Debian (so should be on Ubuntu too): pacpl and dir2ogg I'm a big fan of pacpl :) It's simple to use and it works! (and can convert a lot of formats) The most simple form would be: pacpl --to ogg yourfile.wma ...

Re: cannot get audacity to record on ubuntu 10.10 x64
What are you trying to record? I am trying to record some wma files which came from a CD which has broken. I want to do this so I can export them to .ogg and tag them (I can't tag the .wmas in Linux, and I find .oggs easier to handle in Linux anyway.) I have tried playing them in both rhythmbox and...

Re: Unable to increase bitrate from 128kbps using MP3 Conver
After a little google I found this thread on macrumors: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=263934 Apparently there are some free native mac apps that will do the job, namely xACT, Max and XLD. I think I have used one of those in the past to convert from WAV to MP3, but I don't remember whi...

Re: Unable to increase bitrate from 128kbps using MP3 Conver
The only time you get a chance to edit parameters in Chains is when you are applying an effect. All the Export chain items are fixed, unfortunately. A google search turns up no free batch audio converters for Mac. -- Bill You probably have command line tools for decoding/encoding flac/mp3 in the co...

Re: How to reduce WAV file, freq, etc, still understand spe
The problem with microcontrollers is that probably it can't handle floats. Therefore you need an implementation of a codec that will work with integers only, am I right? Speex is very good for speech, and I think integer only implementation of it are possible (search in the speex website). It might ...

Re: Recording from Crosley turntable
What's your operating system? Windows? MacOS-X? Linux? (which version?)
USB devices need to be connected to the computer before opening audacity. If you connect it while audacity is running you need to quit audacity and start it again.

Re: CANT open AUP files which work under Windows
You posted in the 1.2.x section of the forum... Are you really using such version? If so you should strongly consider upgrading to 1.3.12 (it's the recommended version for both Windows 7 and MacOS-X). You can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ If you use non-ascii characters in the ...

Re: Found this on ebay
Selling GPL'ed software is not illegal. It's not the first we see someone selling audacity on ebay. They should provide the source code though.
