<<<i can't really tell if Quicktime has the same problem or not as the graphic equalizer goes up and down depending on where you have your volume set>>> Maybe I'm closer to this than I think. Where are you getting the equalizer from? QuickTime Pro 7.6.4 and iTunes 9 don't appear to have graphic equ...

Re: sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes

Is there a very clear, specific purpose in your using AIFF? There is no damage by doing that, but I've never found it necessary to deviate from WAV files -- even on a Mac. WAV files are accepted on all three major computing platforms. I can tell you that with absolute assurance. Koz the end result ...

Re: sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes

OK, we seem to have established that the AIF files exported from Audacity are fine - they sound good in Toast. When you import into iTunes, does iTunes automatically convert it to MP3, or does it keep it as AIF? Do you have any default equalizer settings in iTunes that could be affecting playback? ...

Re: sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes

I wouldn't bother with MP3 - I use Apple's AAC, I export WAVs and get iTunes to do the WAV to AAC conversion. Have a look at my workflow: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18759 Don't use too low a bitrate for the AACs as that can cause poor qualirty Audio - iTunes deffault is 128 ...

sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes

I'm using Audacity 1.2.5 (OS 10.5.8) to digitize my record collection at 44100 Hz, 16 bit. I have the files so that the levels are just below clipping and they sound great in Audacity. When i import them into iTunes (9.0.2), however, they sound muffled. somehow the levels are getting lowered, i thin...
