Yes, I can verify that it's not a Tascam issue, per se - the Windows program "Sound Recorder" records just fine using the Tascam interface device. But I get the same problem still in Audacity. I will try your solution and thanks for replying!!!

Did this topic die? I, too, have a Vista 64-bit with a Tascam US-144 and I am having the same issues. This might be a Tascam issue, I don't know, but after much fiddling, I finally can record the sound I'm putting into the mic. BUT, the recorded audio in Audacity is almost in slow-motion.
