This is a known problem, which I think was caused by the updated version of wxWidgets which Audacity uses.
As a workaround, try enabling the setting:
"Preferences > Tracks Behaviors > Use dialog for the name of new label"

Re: How to put Audacity in your dock and use microphone in 10.15 Catalina
Thanks for the tip picpak. I've not tried it myself as I've not yet updated to Catalina, but it sounds like it could be a good workaround. I've "pinned" this topic so that it stays at the top of the macOS forum board for now, so that others can find it easily and say if your workaround wor...

1. Open Devices Preferences and adjust the "Buffer Length" setting. Reduce the setting to 0 milliseconds. I had done that already The next part is important: "If recording breaks up or does not start, increase "Buffer Length" in increments of 10 milliseconds until recording...

Re: Staticy clicking noise appears at random times during recording
Mostly the recording is ok, but randomly it adds noise and "distortion" of voice for less than a seconds of duration. It is mostly reproducible when I append new recording by hitting a red recording button, which creates a separate track. I think that's a different issue, possibly related...

Re: Using menu : "file" "print", works or kill, depending on size
what is the trick ? I'm using Audacity on Linux. Audacity does not include it's own pdf printer driver, it uses whatever printer driver is available on the host system. In the case of my Linux machine, there's just the one default version, which has very few options, but as you see from my previous...

Re: 2.3.2.0 on Windows 10 - Blue Screen Portcls.sys Page Fault
"PortCls" is an audio port-class driver in the Windows operating system, so the problem is very likely to be due to a bug in a low level audio driver, hence my question re. "Virtual Audio Cable" or similar.
