Re: Specify frequency window in "frequency analysis"

I am working on a graduate research thesis that used various sound bites and I have to visually show their frequency analysis (frequency on x-axis and dB on y-axis). I did this by going to analyze > plot spectrum. For serious analysis work, you might do better to export the frequency data from Plot...

Re: Specify frequency window in "frequency analysis"

Is there a way to specify the frequency window so each sound will have the same x-axis, for the purpose of visual comparison? The X-axis (frequency) is determined by the "sample rate" of the selected track. To change the sample rate of a track, select the track, then "Tracks menu > R...

Re: First try of Audacity

But a normal install of the audacity package gives me v2.1.1 The Ubuntu 18.04 repository carries Audacity 2.2.1 (https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=audacity&searchon=names&suite=bionic&section=all). This version does work (I use it myself). The interface is massively complicate...

Re: Best mic to record vocals and guitar?

I use the Rode NT1-A which, to me, produces very warm sounding recordings. I'm surprised by that as a lot of reviews say that it sounds a bit "thin". Personally I like this mic as it has extremely low self-noise, and a pretty flat frequency response, so you're not fighting against the cha...

Re: A More Musical Way to Import Raw Data

There is a program called KCS, short for Kansas City Standard, which takes the binary code of any binary file, and gives two different signals for the 1's and 0's...1200Hz for 0, 2400Hz for 1, and puts the audio on a cassette tape. I was thinking of doing a similar thing in Audacity similar to KCS ...

Re: timeline on track

Can you explain to me what a Macro is and how to use it ? The documentation is here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/macros.html Basically, an Audacity Macro allows you to create a list of Audacity commands. When you run the Macro, each of the commands run in turn (top to bottom of the list). A...

Re: Simpsons Characters?

As far as I'm aware, the voices of Bart and Homer are recorded without any effects - it's Dan Castellaneta (Homer) and Nancy Cartwright (Bart) doing a thing called "acting". The only software I know of that can come close to ding that is "Lyrebird" https://www.descript.com/lyrebi...

Re: Audacity ads are everywhere - negative feedback

The problem appears to be due to changes made by Google Ads. We have always endeavoured to keep the number of ads very low so as to not be a nuisance and (as far as Google Ads allows) relevant for visitors. However, Google have now started "pushing" ads to pages of our website, resulting i...

Re: Audacity ads are everywhere - negative feedback

Thanks for your report.
I've checked the site and there are more ads than I was aware of (I don't normally see them because I use an effective Ad blocker).
I'm looking into this and shall update this thread when I have more information.
