So if you set a custom template as "default", then open a new project ("Ctrl + N"), then open the metadata editor in the new project, do you see your custom template?

There's probably no way to extract vocals from other sound that is mixed into the same channel.

The fact that you have 3, apparently identical loopback devices listed, and nothing else, looks rather peculiar.

Where is the project saved? Is it on a remote drive? This problem usually occurs if the project has been moved to a location that Audacity can't write to.
